F1 Esports has been awarded the title of ‘Best Use of Esports by a Sports Brand’ at the 2020 Sports Technology Awards! That’s right. We’ve crowned champions physical and virtual of our own over the last few years. But now, the series itself gets to samplesome silverware too.
F1 Esports was adjudged to have “done a fantastic job of connecting to a younger audience, and the game is a fantastic extension of its overall efforts”. This team effort consists of rights holder Formula One Management, broadcaster GFinity, game developers Codemasters, and many more key parts of the F1 Esports machine.
The shortlist for the category included tough competition, from Dorna Sports and their MotoGP™ Esport Championship, as well as NBA and Take-Two Interactive’s NBA 2K League.
Held annually, the Sports Technology Awards (STAs) recognises greatness across the board in sports and the way they utilise technology to enhance the experience for fans and participants alike. Entries in other categories came from all around the globe, with representatives from 45 sports in 31 different countries all throwing their hats into the ring for various accolades.
With the Virtual Grand Prix Series, F2 Virtual Racing and F1 Esports Pro Exhibiton races all keeping the motorsport community thoroughly entertained during lockdown, and the fourth edition of the F1 Esports Pro Series on the horizon, it’s never been a better time to be an F1 Esports fan!
