After a historic opener in Los Angeles, and a first live event with spectators in Riyadh, the Global Esports Tour’s journey across global cities continues. The Global Esports Federation’s pro-team tournament will make a stop in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, featuring Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), to be played on Friday and Saturday November 26 & 27, 2021.
CS:GO has retained a high level of popularity among gamers since its release almost a decade ago, attracting tens of millions of monthly active users.
The Global Esports Tour Dubai will take place in two stages: an open qualifier featuring 32 of the UAE’s top CS:GO teams on November 19-20, 2021, with the top 16 progressing to the second stage on November 26-27, 2021 through a virtual series that will be live streamed on the GEF’s Twitch and YouTube channels. The winning team will join seven international pro-teams at GET Dubai in March 2022, to compete for a total prize pool of AED1 million.
“This year has been a year of many firsts for the Global Esports Federation. From staging our first ever live tournament in Los Angeles, to our first live-audience event in Riyadh with thousands of spectators, GET Dubai wraps up this year’s Global Esports Tour calendar before we head to Singapore for our inaugural flagship event, the Global Esports Games. We look forward to an even more robust calendar in 2022 as we reconvene in more global cities next year for the GET,” Paul J. Foster, CEO of the GEF, said.
The GET Dubai will run concurrently with the next edition of GEFcon, to be held on November 26, 2021, at the Global Manufacturing & Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) at the Expo 2020 Dubai.
