T-Wolves Gaming – the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves – was crowned 2019 NBA 2K League Champions after defeating 76ers GC in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA 2K League Finals by a score of 52-35. The victory wraps up a 3-2 series victory for Minnesota as they became the first expansion team in league history to capture the NBA 2K League Championship. T-Wolves Gaming defeated Kings Guard Gaming and Warriors Gaming Squad in the first two rounds of the 2019 NBA 2K League Playoffs, respectively.
Michael “BearDaBeast” Key, a former college basketball player at Piedmont International University, was named Finals MVP. The 2019 first-round pick tallied 23 points and six assists in the pivotal Game 5 victory.
The playoffs tipped off Wednesday, July 24, with the best-of-three quarterfinals and semifinals taking place over three days of gameplay. The playoffs culminated with the best-of-five 2019 NBA 2K League Finals on Saturday, August 3. All playoff games took place at the NBA 2K League Studio Powered by Intel in Long Island City, New York and were livestreamed on Twitch and YouTube. The Finals will also re-air in China on Tencent.
