The Japanese gaming developer Konami has stopped the in-game sale of Pro Evolution Soccer 2019’s (PES 2019) myClub Coins currency in Belgium. The company is seeking ways to comply with Belgian laws that have come down heavily against loot boxes and similar chance-based purchases.
The Belgian Gaming Commission stipulates that loot boxes qualified as games of chance and have to be banned. Since many game development companies have changed their monetisation plans for Belgian titles or pull the games from sale outright to avoid prosecution.
