Jeux.ca, the Quebec website specializing in video games, esports and board games, announced on Monday that journalist Patrick White is joining the company and acts as a partner for editorial content and development.
Jeux.ca, which was started in 2016, has 25,000 unique visitors on average per month in Quebec, according to Google Analytics, and reaches 103,000 people monthly on Facebook.
Patrick White will be a minority shareholder, alongside founder and director Vincent Chevalier, a majority shareholder.
With Patrick White’s arrival, going forward, Jeux.ca volunteer contributors will be paid.
“I am very pleased to welcome Patrick to the Jeux.ca team. His 29 years of experience in journalism, including 15 years in media management, will be a huge asset and his vision for the future of news in the video game industry was immediately compelling. He will be a mentor for us,” said Vincent Chevalier in a press release.
Jeux.ca aims to become a key player in specialized journalism in Quebec, focusing especially on the emergence of eSports here, in Canada and the world. And the team of a dozen journalists and contributors will do an in-depth look and analysis of the video game industry,
Jeux.ca also wants to develop more video content, podcasts, longer substantive pieces, brand content and a presence at conferences, special events, forums and other digital platforms, such as the recent Lan ETS and Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Invitational, as well as SXSW 2019 in Austin, Texas in March.
Jeux.ca has a presence on the Web, on cell phones, tablets, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flipboard, Reddit and Linkedin.

Patrick White established the HuffPost Québec in December 2011, creating one of the top sites for news, opinion and entertainment in Quebec. He was its managing editor. White began his career in May 1990 as a researcher and field producer for CTV National News at the Quebec National Assembly. He then joined the Reuters news agency in 1997 as a correspondent for Quebec City, and then London, Paris and Montreal. In 2004, he became deputy news editor at The Canadian Press (CP) French service.
In 2006, he joined the Journal de Québec as news director and then headed the French online portal Canoe.ca in 2010 and 2011. White was active on Quebec City radio from 1987 to 2002 on CKRL-FM and CHYZ-FM, as well as with the Journal économique de Québec. Since leaving the HuffPost in October 2018, he has been a news commentator on the radio, on TV and on the web, a lecturer in journalism at UQAM and a speaker at public media conferences. He is also founder of the entertainment blog Patwhite.com, started 15 years ago in 2004, and is a contributor to the Quebec site Avenues.ca.
